Researcher Biography

Emily Yorkston is an experienced evaluator, whose expertise is designing, collecting and interpreting high quality evidence to improve outcomes. With a passion for meaningful consultation, Emily has spent the last 15 years working with Australian public sector agencies to design and evaluate strategies that support social change. Emily believes evaluation is an enormously valuable learning opportunity, and approaches her work from the perspective of service through learning and capacity building.

In her career, Emily has led hundreds of evaluations, with a particular focus on housing and homelessness and criminal justice sector programs delivered through interagency partnerships. Her research interests include using the justice system therapeutically to respond to family and domestic violence, and to ensure people with lived experience are supported and diverted from incarceration.
