ARE YOU AGED BETWEEN 18 AND 24 YEARS AND WILLING TO CHANGE A SLEEP OR NUTRITION RELATED LIFESTYLE BEHAVIOUR?

Here at ISSR we are interested in understanding and optimising the health and well-being of young adults like you! We know that young adulthood is a unique period, where competing priorities can limit the ability to engage in healthy lifestyle behaviours. This is why we are conducting a study aimed at determining whether engaging in a lifestyle behaviour change can improve cognition, health and well-being.

Eligibility

We are seeking young adults (18-24 years old) to take part in the study. To participate you must meet the following criteria:

  • Sleep for less than 7hrs per night on average, and less than 6hrs per night on at least 2 occasions per week.
  • Think you might eat less than the recommended quantity of fruit and vegetables (2 serves of fruit and 5 serves of vegetables) on at least one day per week;
  • Willing to make a change to a health behaviour;
  • Hold a valid driver’s license (provisional or open);
  • Drive regularly (3 days per week or more);
  • Have access to a vehicle during the study;
  • Have a mobile device (i.e. smartphone)
What is involved in participation?

Briefly there are four key parts that we would like you to be aware of;

  • Firstly you will need to complete an eligibility survey.
  • The study will run for approximately 10 months in total. During this time, there will be five in-person visits with the study team (see timeline diagram below).
  • There are four study periods in which we’ll ask you to complete a brief daily survey.
  • We would like you to commit to a lifestyle behaviour change targeting either sleep or nutrition (depending on your group allocation). We will provide you with educational materials to help you implement and understand these behaviour changes.
