Researcher Biography

Ivete Meque finished her studies in general medicine in 2005 at Eduardo Mondlane University in Mozambique. Her career spans across clinical practice, health services/ program management and infectious disease research. Ivete completed her Masters in Epidemiology at University of Queensland in 2013. In 2014, she commenced collaborations with UNICEF and World Health Organization offices in Mozambique working as an independent consultant.  

Ivete commenced her PhD in February 2016 investigating pathways and implications of risky drinking amongst young adults at 30 years of age. She is also looking into drinking contexts that lead to problematic alcohol consumption in this age group and how changes in social and gender roles towards gender equality are likely to affect attitudes and norms in relation to alcohol consumption.
