Researcher biography

Kieren is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Institute for Social Science Research. His work focuses on using longitudinal, multilevel, and person-centred methods to assess how and when people respond to inequality. For example, his doctoral thesis examined the causes, consequences, and development of perceived relative deprivation over time, with a particular focus on how groups of differing structural (dis)advantage respond to perceived inequality. Outside of his doctoral program, he has led and supported projects studying the relationships between inequality, identity, political ideology, health, and collective action, with a particular interest in LGBTQIA+ research. As part of his role at ISSR, Kieren works on several externally funded projects monitoring and evaluating public programs across Queensland.
