Troy Sloan is the Group Manager of the Analysis, Evaluation and Data Group in the Australian Government Department of Social Services.  Troy is responsible for leading the department’s analytic and data capability, and improving the evidence base for policy development. The Group provides: short, medium and long-term modelling; reporting and analysis of social security data to inform the development of policies and programs; comprehensive data access and management advice; and a centralised policy and program evaluation plan.

Prior to this, Troy was the First Assistant Secretary, Legal, Employment, Environment and Evaluation Division at the National Indigenous Australians Agency with policy responsibility for Indigenous specific employment programs; evaluation of funding under the Indigenous Affairs Strategy; Portfolio Bodies governance arrangements and the provision of legal services.

Troy has extensive experience working within a Central Government Agency.  Troy led the Closing the Gap Refresh taskforce, acted as First Assistant Secretary in the Social Policy Division and was Assistant Secretary of both the Taxation, Financial Sector and Employment Branch and the National Panel for Economic Reform in PM&C.

Troy also has experience in managing large scale infrastructure works –  he was previously the General Manager for the Major Infrastructure Projects Office in the (then) Department of Infrastructure and Transport. Before this Troy held a number of roles in the Treasury where he built a strong background in Commonwealth-State relations, taxation (including working on the Henry Tax Review), superannuation, Budget policy and Industry policy
