Scott has held senior roles in IT companies including Oracle, IBM and Microsoft for over 20 years. His work has included artificial intelligence projects for health care and social services; advanced analytics projects for major retailers; high performance computing for universities; security advice for government; and cloud computing for government.

He is currently Chair of the Steering Committee for a research project funded by the Department of Social Services under the Try, Test and Learn Fund. This project uses AI to assist long-term unemployed find sustainable careers, specifically by improving the productivity of case managers. The project is a consortium comprising the University of Queensland, Curtin University, IBM and Chandler Macleod.

Scott holds a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from Murdoch University and a Postgraduate Diploma from the Institute for Science and Technology Policy at Murdoch University.
