I am a Senior Lecturer in Sociology in the School of Social Sciences and an Affiliate at the Institute for Social Science Research. I hold a PhD from Florida State University (FSU), an MSc from FSU, and a Bachelor of Arts with First Class Honours from UQ.
My research focuses on the life course consequences of family relationships, especially among disadvantaged groups. I am particularly interested in family relationships and the life course in Low and Middle Income Countries (LMICs) and the effects of war, violence, and hazardous employment on families.
My research has been published in journals such as PLOS One, Journal of Marriage and Family, and Criminology. You can follow me on Twitter via @walterforrest.
