Dynamic Situation Tracking of Big Data

This project is researching new methods to detect, measure and characterise “events” that arise in complex, textual “big data” flows.

The research uses Situation Tracking technology developed by the project leader, Dr Andrew Smith.  It tracks “situations” unfolding in complex real-world data flows, as they happen in real time. It can be used to track information from social media channels, system logs, etc.

Dr Smith's Situation Tracking technology uses an infinitely flexible and dynamic model of human memory (called Schema Memory) which gives users a clear understanding of the contexts and implications surrounding any selected data fragment, concept, time period, or entity. It can be generated in real-time from up to date information.
